There are plenty of small shops in Estrela including a small supermarket. A larger supermarket selling fresh fish and meat can be found opposite Calheta Marina.There is a bakery which sells fresh bread every day of the week just a couple of minutes walk from the apartment
Transport
There are taxi-ranks both in Estrela and at Calheta Marina.
There is a regular bus route to Funchal and Ponta do Pargo which stops off at the starting point of many walking routes along the way. This is ideal for Levada excursions, especially Levada do Norte.The local bus timetable can be downloaded here
Praia Calheta is the ideal destination for families. There are two golden sandy beaches with safe swimming facilities and sun loungers. The beach is rarely crowded. Bars and restaurants line the promenade of Calheta Marina, ideal for viewing the sun setting over the ocean.
